#1  Socialize, romanticizing life

This semester in general was chaotic, to say the least, as it is a period of constant socializing for me. As an introvert, you can imagine how challenging it could be at times. Yet this journal would not be a ranting session, rather I would like to share some of my favorite moments from October.

10/10 Hangout with a friend

A friend of mine visited CCU. We’ve known each other since kindergarten, but we have not spoken in years. Recently we reconnected at an event, and coincidentally she is also studying in Chiayi! Therefore we decided to meet up during the holidays.

The best thing about reconnecting with an old friend is that you can just update them on everything in your life. Although it was awkward at first, and we even searched for a list of questions to ask each other (which is just funny), as time went on, our conversations went more and more natural.

We went to the wooden plank near the grass plains to rest. The weather is perfect, with just enough sunlight and wind. We saw people flying kites and walking their dogs, and I suggested taking a photo of us lying on the grass. The photos are silly and memorable, we are both happy with how they turn out.

10/20 Water Balloon Fight

When it comes to water balloon fights, I don’t have many experiences. Most of the time it’s during some sort of camp activities or school-conducted events. But this time, the whole thing was solely done by two of my friends and I.

Yes, you heard me right, there are only three people, Angela, Bella, and I, who contributed to this water balloon fight. The two of them are roommates, and I got invited to join the game. Although it is difficult to imagine how to even play it with three people and three people only, we somehow made it work.

We first filled up the balloons ourselves, then we started off with a rock-paper-scissor+look the-way game to get each other wet, which was both successful and unsuccessful because although we did pop a few water balloons, it was mostly thrown onto Bella, and not me and Angela.

After that we did some song guessing, and then some individual fights before running out of water balloons and ending the game. This is probably one of the silliest thing I participated in this October, and it is such a wonderful memory.

10/26 CCU 35th Anniversary

The Anniversary of CCU is possibly one of the most exciting events for this month. You can argue that it is because of the breathtaking fireworks and the annual concert, but I say it’s because I get to see all the dramas about the romantic flings and crushes that my friends are experiencing, and it is no exception this year as well. Obviously, we will not dive into any of those and gossip about my friends, since it would not be ethical to do so. Instead, I will talk about the amazing time I had that day.

At 5 pm, my friend Bella and I met up to grab some food at the street market, and we stumbled upon this food truck that was selling rice balls, which was amazing and I would love to try again. After getting our stomachs full, we went to the sports field for the highlight of the night—the fireworks. This year’s event was more surprising to me because I loved the song used during the fireworks, and although my friends and I always joke about how those fireworks are just our tuition exploding in the sky, it is still one of the best experiences in college for me.

After that, we ran to the place where the concert took place. I would say we are fairly lucky since we went to relatively fronter rows, and got to see those singers pretty close. The singer that left the most impression on me is Vash Hsu (徐暐翔), because he actually sings pretty well, and through my observation, he somehow always saves his voice crack whenever it's about to happen. The host Hao (寶賤) was a good host as well, he is an online celebrity and is pretty good at hyping the crowd up.
